Mac OS X only — that I know of, any word to the contrary is welcome.
I was doing some Wordpress development this weekend while listening to my team on MLB Gameday Audio. While I attempted to Cmd-Tab to another application I miskeyed and hit Cmd-` (` is right above Tab on my keyboard) which [...]
In the little rant I gave on the baked-in Windows screenshot capabilities the other day I mentioned the simplicity of the baked-in Mac screenshot process. Like Windows there are multiple keystrokes to achieve the various types of screenshots.
Cmd-Shift-3 will capture the entire screen.
Cmd-Shift-4 then click-n-drag will capture a specific section of the screen.
Cmd-Shift-4 then [...]
Windows comes with two ways to capture screenshots baked into the software. If you hit PrintScreen it will capture the entire screen to the clipboard. If you hit Alt-PrintScreen it will capture the active application/window to the clipboard.
I very rarely use the full screen capture because I’m usually taking a shot of one specific [...]
I’ve recently seen various write-ups about Google Notebook, so I decided to take a look at it. I must say I was pretty happy with what I found. I’ll give the caveat that this is in no way a perfect product, nor fully featured…yet. There were, however, a few features of it [...]
I’m the tech/operations person for a branch of our organization that has staff in 3 locations. I work out of the “main office,” and do a poor job of making it out to the other two locations on a regular basis. Partially because of the location spread, and partially because I think it’d [...]
There are two keystrokes related to the built-in Firefox search box that I love.
Ctrl-k on Windows, Cmd-k on Mac, and Ctrl-j on Linux selects the search box. Until I found this I would do Alt-D/Cmd-L to select the Location Bar, and then Tab to the search box.
Once you are in the search box you [...]
It’s been reported today that Yahoo! is going to start offering unlimited email storage starting in May.
Now, when GMail came out Yahoo! and Hotmail only offered something like 20-50MB of storage. GMail’s offering of 1GB of storage blew those other limits away. As it stands now I have +2.8GB of storage in my [...]
One thing I am regularly frustrated with is the lack of ability to enter a TAB into a web form. There are times when you want to use TAB spacing, but are relegated to hitting the spacebar a bunch of times. With Tabinta — Tab In Textarea — that problem just disappears. [...]
Most people in the tech industry are familiar with the accronym LAMP (if not, follow that link). MAMP is a variation on LAMP, but for Mac.
I need to preface this post with the advice that the product I’m about to show is not for “production” type environments. The official word is:
MAMP was created [...]
I’ve mentioned this other places, but it’s definitely worth repeating. In some applications with tabs you can cycle through the tabs with a simple keystroke: Ctrl and Page Up or Page Down. Page Up will cycle you left, and Page Down will cycle you right.
I want to create a “definitive” list of [...]
